Synopsis

BE58 pilot reported landing gear malfunction with cabin smoke and fumes during initial approach. Landing gear collapsed during landing and aircraft was evacuated.

Narrative

I was involved in an incident today with a landing gear failure on a ZZZ at XA:15. I was cleared to land Runway X. Upon putting the gear handle down the gear made an abnormal noise and the circuit breaker popped. I told ZZZ Tower I needed to fly by and confirm if my gear was up or down. ZZZ Tower told me my gear appeared to be down; but I did not have a down and lock indication in the aircraft. I then proceeded to head west to try to see if I could use the manual gear extension. The manual gear extension was in a bind and would not rotate. The cockpit was rapidly filling up with smoke and was irritating my senses and becoming dangerous. I feared the aircraft was on fire and [requested priority] with ZZZ Tower. ZZZ Tower cleared me to land any runway. I landed on Runway XX and touched down on the mains and nose gear in what appeared to be a normal landing. As the aircraft decelerated down the runway all the landing gears started to collapse. Upon coming to a stop I turned off the battery master switch; magnetos and pulled the mixtures. We evacuated the aircraft quickly and met search and rescue personnel.
