CAPT OF LGT TAXIES PAST HOLD LINE HE WAS REQUESTED TO HOLD SHORT OF WHEN MAKING A R TURN FROM PARALLEL TAXIWAY AT APCH END OF RWY 34R AT SEA.

Narrative

DURING THE TAXI FOR TKOF AND IMMEDIATELY AFTER LEAVING THE BLOCKS; GND CTL INSTRUCTED US TO 'TAXI TO RWY 34L HOLD SHORT OF 34R AND MONITOR TWR AT THE HOLD POINT.' AS ACFT APCHED THE HOLD POINT THE FO LOOKED TO CHARTS TO RETRIEVE TWR FREQ AND AFTER SELECTING FREQ ON RADIO'S LOOKED OUTSIDE AGAIN NOTING THAT ACFT HAD BEEN TAXIED BEYOND HOLD LINE FOR 34R. THIS IS ANOTHER CASE OF THE HOLD LINES NOT BEING REFLECTIVE SO THAT TAXI LIGHTS WILL MAKE THEM STAND OUT AND THE SIGNAGE NOT EYE CATCHING ENOUGH. ALSO AT THIS POINT THE PLT TAXIING THE ACFT (SITTING ON L SIDE OF ACFT) MAY NOT SEE THE HOLD LINES AS THE LINES ARE AT THE BEGINNING OF A 90 DEG R TURN. THERE ARE GREEN TAXI LIGHTS ON SOME PARTS OF ARPT BUT IF THEY EXTEND ALL THE WAY TO THE HOLD POS I DID NOT SEE THEM AT DUSK THIS EVENING. THE TAXI LINE TO THE HOLD POINT FORCES ACFT TO MAKE HARD 90 DEG IF YOU STAY ON TAXI LINE; POSSIBLY A ROUNDED TAXI LINE WOULD PUT ACFT IN POS TO MAKE THE QUICK TAXI ACROSS 34R AS IS NORMALLY REQUESTED AT BUSY TIMES SUCH AS THIS EVENING. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 205197. CAPT OF TAXI OVER HOLD LINE OF RWY 34R. AS A RESULT OF DISTR CAUSED BY THE CAPT TO OTHER CREW MEMBERS; THE FO WAS UNABLE TO CAUTION OR PREVENT THE ACFT FROM TAXIING PAST 34R HOLD LINE. THE SO NOTIFIED THE CREW OF TAXIING PAST THE HOLD LINE.
