ACR LGT ACFT STRUCK RIDGE OF BLOWN SNOW ICE DURING TKOF RESULTING IN ACFT DAMAGE.
Narrative
DURING TKOF ROLL; ACFT WAS DAMAGED; APPARENTLY BY WET SNOW THROWN UP BY THE MAIN WHEELS. RWY SURFACE WAS RPTED AS 1/8-1/2 INCHES WET SNOW. HOWEVER; THE RECENT PLOWING OF AN INTERSECTING RWY LEFT 2 RIDGES OF 'WIND ROLL' SNOW PERPENDICULARLY ACROSS OUR RWY. WE HAD JUST LEARNED THAT THESE 'WIND ROLL' RIDGES HAD BEEN REMOVED WHEN WE GOT 'POS AND HOLD.' ANOTHER IDENTICAL (COMPANY) ACFT DEPARTED BEFORE US ON THE SAME RWY AND RPTED NO PROBLEMS. TKOF ROLL WAS NORMAL. JUST PRIOR TO ROTATION; THE CAPT (AT CTLS) SPOTTED THE SNOW RIDGES AND INITIATED ROTATION 3-4 KTS EARLY SO THAT THE NOSEWHEEL WOULD CLR THE RIDGES; WHICH IT DID. A FAIRLY LOUD BANG WAS HEARD AS WE SIMULTANEOUSLY CROSSED THE SNOW RIDGES AND STARTED LIFTOFF (AT NORMAL LIFTOFF SPD). ALL ENG; GEAR; HYD AND PRESSURIZATION INDICATIONS WERE NORMAL. SO WE CONTINUED THE 1 HR FLT TO DEST. UPON ARR; MY POST-FLT INSPECTION REVEALED DAMAGE TO THE L APU ACCESS DOOR (REAR OF ACFT) AS WELL AS A MISSING APU INTAKE FAIRING. TAIL SKID AFT OF APU AND AN ANTENNA FORWARD OF APU WERE UNDAMAGED. ACFT PITCH ATTITUDE AT ROTATION AND LIFTOFF WERE NORMAL. ESTIMATED HEIGHT OF SNOW RIDGES WAS 1 FT (NOTE THAT THEY HAD RPTEDLY BEEN CLRED).
