Synopsis

FLT ATTENDANTS SUSPECTED A FIRE IN THE AFT LAVATORY ON LNDG ROLLOUT. ACFT WAS EVACED ON THE RWY WITH A FEW MINOR INJURIES. THERE WAS NO FIRE.

Narrative

THE FLT WAS SCHEDULED AND FLOWN FROM BHM TO CVG. THE TKOF; DEP; CRUISE; AND APCH PORTIONS OF THE TRIP WERE UNEVENTFUL. ON LNDG ROLL; AFTER A NORMAL TOUCHDOWN; THE FLT ATTENDANTS IN THE AFT PORTION OF THE ACFT NOTIFIED US; ON THE FLT DECK; OF A PROBLEM. WE RECEIVED INITIAL SIGNALING AS WE SLOWED PASSING THROUGH 110 KIAS. I SPOKE WITH THE FLT ATTENDANTS AS WE SLOWED TO LESS THAN 80 KIAS. THE FLT ATTENDANTS NOTIFIED US THAT THERE WAS SMOKE IN THE AFT LAVATORY AND THE AFT LAVATORY SMOKE ALARMS WERE SOUNDING. THE FLT ATTENDANTS THEN STATED THEY WERE GETTING OUT A FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND THAT THE LAVATORY DOOR FELT HOT. BASED UPON ALL THE INPUT PRESENTED; WE ON THE FLT DECK THOUGHT WE HAD A FIRE ON BOARD. WITH THAT IN MIND THE CAPT ORDERED AN EMER EVAC AND DIRECTED THE FLT ATTENDANTS TO USE THE FORWARD EVAC RTE. THE EVAC WENT SMOOTHLY; ALL PAX EVACED SMOOTHLY WITH ONLY A COUPLE OF VERY MINOR INJURIES. THE FIRE DEPT'S RESPONSE WAS OUTSTANDING. THE END RESULT; THERE WAS NO FIRE ON THE ACFT AS WE HAD INITIALLY BELIEVED. WE DID THE BEST; BASED UPON THE INFO WE HAD AT THE TIME AND EVERYONE SAFELY EVACED.
