ACR MLG ACFT HAD A TCASII ALERT REQUIRING A CLB. MLG RESPONDED. ATC CALLED 2 FGT ACFT RPTING ABOVE THE MLG. MLG ACFT SAW THE FGT ACFT BELOW THEM. NO FURTHER CONFLICT.

Narrative

WE WERE LEVEL AT FL290; I HEARD ZTL CALL TFC FOR ANOTHER ACFT. IT SOUNDED LIKE THE TFC CALLED WAS OUR ACFT SO I BEGAN LOOKING FOR THE TFC AT OUR 1 O'CLOCK (THE CTLR DID NOT CALL TFC FOR US). I HEARD THE TCASII CALL 'TFC;' I LOOKED AT THE TCASII AND SAW THE ACFT WAS AT OUR 1 O'CLOCK ABOUT 5-6 MI AND 1000 FT BELOW US. I BEGAN LOOKING AGAIN FOR THE TFC. WITHIN 5 SECONDS WE GOT A RA ON THE TCASII 'CLB; CLB.' I LOOKED BACK IN AT THE TCASII AND IT WAS 900 FT AND WENT TO 800 FT AT 2 MI OR LESS AT ABOUT 1 O'CLOCK I LOOKED OUT ONE MORE TIME FOR THE TFC. THE CAPT ASKED QUICKLY IF I HAD THE TFC AND I SAID NO. THE CAPT KICKED OFF THE AUTOPLT AND CLBED AS DIRECTED BY THE TCASII. I CALLED ZTL AND TOLD THEM WE HAD LEFT 290 BECAUSE OF A TCASII RESOLUTION. WE WERE ABOUT 29300 AND I WAS OUTSIDE LOOKING AGAIN. THE TCASII SHOWED THAT THE ACFT WAS STAYING 800 FT BELOW US. AT 29500 THE TCASII CALLED 'MONITOR VERT SPD.' THE CAPT BEGAN REDUCING HIS CLB. AT 29700 TCASII CALLED 'CLR OF TFC.' WE CLBED NO HIGHER THAN 29700 AND BEGAN DSNDING BACK TO 290. ZTL SAID WE HAD 2 FGT'S AT 310; WE DSNDED AND WERE AT 290 WHEN ZTL SAID THE FGT'S WERE AT 2 MI PASSING OFF OUR R WING. ZTL ASKED THE OTHER ACFT IF THEY WERE OFF ALT. THEY SAID NO. WE WERE ADVISED THEY (ZTL) WOULD HAVE TO RPT IT. THE TCASII SYS TESTED 'GOOD' BOTH BEFORE AND AFTER THE FLT.
