Narrative

After landing at TIX Runway 36; the Tower instructed us to turn 180 on the runway and back-taxi on 36 and hold short Runway 27 for landing traffic. We approached Runway 27 and held short at the runway intersection sign as there were no hold-short lines painted on the north end of Runway 36. The Tower then came on and shouted to hold short 27. The FO (First Officer) and myself looked at each other as we had already stopped and were obviously nowhere close to Runway 27. The controller then stated to cross Runway 27 with no delay and to exit at E" taxiway and to the Ramp. We completed those directions. We did notice that there was a hold-short line painted on Runway 26 on the south side approaching Runway 27 and we noted that our distance that we stopped on the north end of 36 of Runway 27 was even further than was painted on the south side on Runway 36. I called the Tower and spoke with the controller to ensure that we did not miss anything; and he stated that we were okay but he could not tell from his point of view if we were slowly taxiing or at a stop. He did advise us that there is no hold-short line on the north end of Runway 36 approaching Runway 27.I am reporting this incident as a recommendation that if a taxi back on Runway 36 to hold short at Runway 27 is a common direction at this airport then the airport should paint a hold-short line to avoid confusion or a runway incursion incident. They painted a hold-short line on the south side of Runway 36 approaching Runway 27 then they should do the same on the north side. Very small expense to prevent an accident or for a controller to miss anything. It would also give pilots a very clear stopping point and not leave this up to discretion."
