Narrative
IFR FLT FROM 49J TO PTK. 49J'S AN UNCTLED ARPT; WITH CLRNC DELIVERY FREQ TO SAV APCH CTL. I CONTACTED SAV APCH VIA CLRNC DELIVERY FREQ AND RECEIVED CLRNC TO DEST PRIOR TO TAXI; WITH INSTRUCTION TO RECONTACT SAV APCH FOR RELEASE WHEN PREPARED FOR DEP. WITH THAT; I XMITTED OVER (CTAF) OUR INTENTION TO TAXI FOR DEP. RWY 03. AFTER TAXI COMPLETION OF CHKLIST ITEMS I PREPARED TO FIT OUR DEP INTO A CONTINUOUS FLOW OF ARRS. (ARPT WAS VERY BUSY AT THE TIME). AFTER DEP I CONTACTED BEAUFORT DEP CTL PER CLRNC INSTRUCTIONS. THEY ASSIGNED A HDG AND ALT WHICH I ACKNOWLEDGED. SHORTLY THEREAFTER BEAUFORT CLRED US AS FILED AND THEN ASKED IF WE HAD BEEN CLRED BY SAV. I RESPONDED; AFFIRMATIVE. THEN BEAUFORT SAID THAT SAV HAD NOT YET RELEASED US AT THE TIME OF OUR DEP -- WHICH WAS ABSOLUTELY CORRECT! THAT'S ALL THAT WAS SAID AND THE REMAINDER OF THE TRIP WENT SMOOTHLY; THOUGH IT WAS A POOR START. CAUSE: I DID NOT FEEL WELL THAT MORNING. I JUST WANTED TO BE HOME. THE FACT IS; I SHOULDN'T HAVE FLOWN AT ALL. IN MY HASTE TO GET HOME; I DISREGARD MY DEGRADED PHYSICAL AND MENTAL STATE. I WAS SO CONCERNED ABOUT GETTING UNDERWAY THAT I COMPLETELY FORGOT TO OBTAIN A RELEASE PRIOR TO DEP. THOUGH THIS FLT WAS STRICTLY PLEASURE RELATED; AS A PROFESSIONAL PLT; I AM SUPPOSED TO KNOW BETTER THAN TO OPERATE AN ACFT WHEN NOT FEELING UP TO PAR. YET I DID; WITH GET HOMEITIS TO BOOT -- NEVER AGAIN.
