Synopsis
General aviation pilot reported they took off from a runway that had an aircraft on short final causing the aircraft to go around.
Narrative
I was holding short of Runway 23 after receiving a hold for release. I was aware of Aircraft Y in the traffic pattern; and made visual contact with the traffic on his left downwind as I held short Runway 23.Aircraft Y called and I visually verified the Aircraft Y making a base turn. At that point; I judged that I would have enough time to enter the runway and start my takeoff roll in a safe way that would not force the Aircraft Y pilot to make a go around. I announced my departure and added 'no delay' to my radio call. As I aligned with runway; Aircraft Y called his final turn. I began my takeoff roll. He quickly came upon me as I began my takeoff roll and he elected to go around. After debriefing this situation with a flight instructor later that day; he told me that Aircraft Y was practicing short approaches; and that I could have expedited quicker or simply waited. On further reflection; I realize I saved ZERO time trying to take off before the Aircraft Y. Waiting would have allowed him to land safely; and helped me feel less rushed. My impatience and belief that I could safely depart before the Aircraft Y turned final caused another aircraft to go around; and saved me zero time.
