Narrative
I got authorization to fly the drone a few weeks ahead and I planned the flight to happen during spring break so that I could be sure that there were no students and fewer activities at the airport close to the school. I just started the second phase of the scheduled flight when I heard an aircraft that my controller did not indicate was present. I looked around and did not see any aircraft so by default; I tried lowering my drone but briefly lost control since I was flying about the stadium when this happened. I panicked and pushed the drone up to prevent the drone from flying itself in the direction the aircraft may be flying to reconnect to the controller because I still could not see the aircraft that I was hearing its sound. While doing this I was scanning the sky for the aircraft that was making this sound; by the time I saw the aircraft; I had gone above the permitted 400 ft. for this flight. The aircraft was probably about a mile away when I saw it; I dropped my drone and reduced the maximum altitude setting on the controller to prevent going above 400 ft.
