Narrative
IFR FLT PLAN TO A VISUAL LNDG SLC; UT. WAS CLRED FOR A VISUAL APCH BY APCH CTL AND TO CONTACT TWR ON 119.05. WE WERE #2 ON APCH ABOUT 3 MI BEHIND AN LGT. I DIALED IN THE WRONG FREQ; 119.5; AND CALLED TWR. WE WERE ABOUT 4 MI OUT ON A VISUAL. MENTALLY; I HEARD A REPLY 'CLRED TO LAND.' MY COPLT ASKED IF WE WERE CLRED TO LAND AND I REPLIED 'YES.' AT ABOUT 100 FT HE REMARKED 'IT SURE IS QUIET.' I DOUBLE CHKED THE FREQ AT THAT POINT AND DISCOVERED I WAS ON THE WRONG FREQ. WE WERE NOW FLARING FOR LNDG SO WE LANDED UNEVENTFULLY. I CALLED THE TWR ON ROLLOUT AND THEY CLRED US OFF THE RWY. GND CTL INQUIRED 'DID WE HAVE A LNDG CLRNC?' MY REPLY; 'NEGATIVE.' I CALLED SLC CTL TWR FROM COMPANY OPS. THEY SAID AT THAT POINT THEY DID NOT INTEND TO TAKE ANY PUNITIVE ACTION; BUT WERE CONCERNED IF THEIR PROCS HAD BROKEN DOWN. THEY ALSO INFORMED ME THAT THEY HAD PROTECTED THE RWY FOR US FROM THE OM INBOUND. THIS WAS THE FOURTH DAY OF A 4 DAY TRIP AND PERHAPS SOME FATIGUE WAS A FACTOR. IT WAS A CLR DAY AND THERE WAS A SLIGHT CONCERN ABOUT THE ACFT AHEAD CLRING THE RWY WHILE WE WERE ON SHORT FINAL. IN ANY EVENT; I MUST MAKE SURE I GET THE CORRECT FREQ AND MAKE SURE I GET A REAL REPLY AND CLRNC FOR LNDG AND ALL OTHER SITUATIONS.
