Air carrier Flight Attendant reported a passenger's laptop with battery in a checked bag was brought back from the ramp. Passenger was deplaned per security protocol.
Narrative
During boarding I received a phone call from one of the my co worker from economy stating that a customer had gate checked her book bag and had realized she left her laptop in her bag . Flight attendant informed our group of the incident to see if we could retrieve the bag before it was sent to the ramp . At this point I asked the ramper if we could retrieve the bag so the customer could remove the laptop as the battery is a hazardous material . Ramp agent then said he had too many bags and need to see a bag tag . I then went and got it for him . The ramper found the bag and brought it back up to the aircraft door . At this point customer service representative saw that the bag came up from the ramp and stated that this now considered a security breach and the customer needs to come off the plane . We called for the customer to come to the aircraft door . When customer service representative was explaining the situation to the passenger ; she started crying . At this point the captain wanted to know what was going on and came out of the flight deck . He began interacting with the situation and I went back to my duties on board the aircraft.
