Synopsis

C172 pilot reported one of the tires began to deflate upon landing. The pilot was able to stop on the runway and was towed off.

Narrative

After touchdown on runway XXL at ZZZ airport; the right main tire started to deflate during rollout; causing the aircraft to yaw to the right. I stopped the aircraft on the runway and notified tower; who allowed me to shut down on the runway and wait for a tow. The aircraft had to be towed off of the runway and to parking. A mechanic who changed the tire stated that there was no indication of side-loading; nor were there any flat spots on the tire. There was no further damage to the aircraft; and immediate inspection of the tire did not show any major issues; but a more detailed inspection has not yet been done. A tube failure in the tire was stated as a possible cause; but that has not been confirmed as of the time of this report's submission. The landing followed a stabilized approach with a crosswind component from the right; up to 8 knots; calculated using the most recent METAR. No side loading was felt by during the landing; and brakes were not applied until after the flat tire was detected; as I was planning to roll down the runway a fair distance to the next taxiway; which was closer to the end of the runway.
