TKOF ABORTED WHEN SERIOUS ACFT EQUIP PROBLEM SURFACES ON TKOF ROLL. FO RPTR QUESTIONS SECOND TKOF ATTEMPT AFTER THE FACT.

Narrative

DURING TKOF ROLL AT ORD; A MOMENTARY INDICATION OF AUTOFEATHER WAS NOTED. WE IMMEDIATELY ABORTED ALL INDICATIONS RETURNED TO NORMAL. UPON CLRING THE ACTIVE RWY; THE CAPT CONTACTED MAINT CTL. ALTHOUGH I DID NOT HEAR THE CONVERSATION; THE CAPT CONVEYED TO ME THAT SINCE ALL INDICATIONS WERE NOW NORMAL ANOTHER TKOF ATTEMPT WAS AT OUR DISCRETION. WE THEN DID A STATIC RUNUP AND ALL INDICATIONS REMAINED NORMAL THE CAPT THEN DECIDED TO TRY ANOTHER TKOF. ALTHOUGH I WAS HESITANT ABOUT THE SAFETY AND LEGALITY OF ANOTHER TKOF; I DID NOT PRESS THE ISSUE VERY HARD. AGAINST MY BETTER JUDGEMENT ANOTHER TKOF WAS ATTEMPTED. IMMEDIATELY UPON BRINGING THE PWR UP ON THE SECOND TKOF; ANOTHER TEMPORARY AUTOFEATHER INDICATION WAS NOTED. WE ABORTED AND RETURNED TO THE GATE. THIS SECOND ABORT COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED HAD I BEEN MORE FORCEFUL ABOUT MY RESERVATIONS. CREW CONCEPT AND MUTUAL DECISION MAKING SHOULD HAVE BEEN MORE A PART OF THIS INCIDENT. ALSO; MAINT CTL SHOULD HAVE HAD US RETURN TO THE GATE IMMEDIATELY. THIS WOULD HAVE LEFT NO QUESTION TO US (THE CREW) WHETHER OR NOT ANOTHER TKOF SHOULD BE ATTEMPTED.
