[Requested priority handling] need to be below 14000 now. Took some time to get down due to MOA being hot. In the descent the R1 started to bubble and I (CA) chose to divert to ZZZ1. We landed at ZZZ1 with no fault or injuries. Taxied to the gate under our own power. After shut down and checklist. went back to check on my PAX (Passengers). The Flight crew handled the situation very professional. The company agents that met the aircraft were very professional . They still had live flights to work and were short staffed. The Company Station Manager never showed to the gate. We left over 100 pax with no lodging; food; or transportation. I (CA) Helped the PAX find hotels around the area and secured a 32 PAX bus to transport them to and from the hotel and back to the airport. Several PAX were left to sleep in the baggage claim areas with no food or proper shelter. The hotel desk had booked a hotel for the crew when we looked it up. showed permanent closed. I (CA) booked hotel for the crew along with transportation to the area.
