AN SMA PLT HAD A LOSS OF ALTERNATOR. AFTER LNDG ON A TAXIWAY; HE BLEW BOTH MAIN GEAR TIRES.
Narrative
THIS IS THE SEQUENCE OF EVENTS THAT OCCURRED ON MY FLT FROM SCOTTSDALE; AZ; TO TUCSON; AZ; ON MAY/SAT/92. 1) APPROX 45 MI NW OF TUCSON; AZ; THE CHARGING SYS FAILED ON MY SMA. 2) I TURNED ALL ELECTRICAL EQUIP OFF; EXCEPT FOR MY #1 COM RADIO; AND CONTINUED MY APCH TO TUCSON. 3) CONCERNED THAT I MAY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE LNDG GEAR; I LOWERED IT ABOUT 20 MI FROM TUCSON ARPT. I DID NOT GET A 3 GREEN LIGHT INDICATION BUT DID HAVE A MECHANICAL INDICATION THAT THE GEAR WAS IN THE DOWN POS. 4) I INADVERTENTLY LANDED ON THE PARALLEL TAXIWAY JUST TO THE N OF RWY 11L; THE RWY THAT I HAD BEEN CLRED TO LAND ON. 5) REALIZING MY MISTAKE JUST AS THE WHEELS TOUCHED DOWN; I APPLIED FULL BRAKES; STOPPING THE ACFT IN THE SHORTEST POSSIBLE DISTANCE. BOTH MAIN TIRES FAILED. 6) FAILURE OF THE 2 MAIN LNDG GEAR TIRES ON MY ACFT WAS THE ONLY PROPERTY DAMAGE THAT OCCURRED. 7) AFTER MY ACFT HAD BEEN CLRED FROM THE TAXIWAY; I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE TWR (EVEN THOUGH THEY DID NOT REQUEST IT) TO REVIEW THE SERIES OF EVENTS.
