Synopsis

General aviation student pilot reported a near miss with another aircraft when taking off from a non-towered airport. The student pilot saw the other aircraft on short final; landing opposite direction on the same runway; and rejected the takeoff and cleared the runway.

Narrative

I was holding short of Runway 4 at E63 (Gila Bend Municipal) waiting to takeoff eastbound back to my home airport; ZZZ. Listening to the CTAF while on the ground; I hear an aircraft announce their position in the left downwind for Runway 4. I do not recall hearing a position call from the other aircraft involved on what runway he was intending to land on. I knew he was coming from the north-northwest but you would think he would join the pattern for Runway 4 with everyone else. I didn't have any expectation bias because I checked left and right while holding short before announcing my call to take off on Runway 4. I knew there was one aircraft in the downwind for 4 and I hadn't heard a call for any other runway so I called to take off on Runway 4 when I deemed it clear. I taxied onto the runway. Once on centerline; I put in full power. Not expecting to see an aircraft on short final for the opposite runway; I hear the other aircraft make the call saying he is coming straight in for Runway 22. I look up and immediately see what looked like a Cessna; coming in to land. I only got a quick glance but I am pretty sure it was a Cessna. I immediately pulled my power to idle and used my brakes to get off on the soonest available runway possible. I still had plenty of time to react so I did not feel super pressured in doing so. I made the right decision getting off the runway as soon as possible and made a call saying I was aborting my takeoff. The other aircraft then realized we were using Runway 4 and not 22 and said that he was now making a right turn to enter the left traffic downwind for Runway 4 after I made my call and got off the runway. I ran my appropriate checklists and taxied back to the approach end of Runway 4 to takeoff again and had enough time to do so before the aircraft made it onto his base and final legs. I announced my action to take off on Runway 4 and did so after making sure I was one hundred percent clear to. I looked left and right and listened to the position calls. When I took off I headed eastbound toward ZZZ.
