Synopsis
Air carrier Flight Attendant reported a wrapped flight crew meal containing dry ice was mistakenly delivered to flight deck. Captain notified Flight Attendant that dry ice is prohibited on the flight deck and had the dry ice removed.
Narrative
At level off; I provided the flight deck with their catered meals. I had not unwrapped any items which were catered for them. Particularly; their ice cream; is wrapped in gray; non-transluscent; bubble wrap and saran wrap. Within this wrapping also contained dry ice to keep the ice cream cold. After some time; a call was made from the flight deck to the cabin. My #3 flight attendant answered the phone and had a conversation with (I assume) the captain. After the phone call; my #3 informed me that I had given them dry ice and that they could not have dry ice in the flight deck. At this point we set up the cart for proper flight deck door opening procedures and I retrieved the dry ice and returned it to the cart. I do think that the procedure for dry ice (as it pertains specifically to meal service) in the flight deck could be outlined definitively in flight attendant manuals (both procedures and service manuals). In addition; I do not think that catering should pack catering items; specifically for flight deck service; with dry ice at all.
