Synopsis
B737 First Officer reported a safe return to departure airport after experiencing high EGT in the #2 engine on climb out.
Narrative
Upon completion of the after takeoff checklist; with A/T on but A/P disengaged; the #2 engine EGT went into the caution band. The max observed EGT by me was 902*; and the EGT guage filled amber. Ran the applicable immediate action items; then the CA and I divided responsibilities. He completed the QRC and applicable checklists; coordinated with dispatch and [Maintenance]; and contacted the FAs while I flew; took the radios; and coordinated with ATC for level off and extended vectors for clearance of building storms and a return to ZZZ. We observed in level flight an EGT split of anywhere from 70-100* and conveyed all pertinent information to MX/Dispatch/ATC.After the ultimate decision was made to return (the CA was a true professional throughout; by the way); we built the box; re-cruised; ran standard checklists and returned via a visual to XXR backed up by the ILS; which I flew to an uneventful landing and then taxied to an open gate. Shutdown was normal and all standard checklists were performed.
