Synopsis
PA46 Pilot reported while in cruise the aircraft experienced engine issues and then engine failure resulting in the pilot landing at the first available airport.
Narrative
I flew to ZZZ1 for a meeting arrived around XA:00 asked for 30 gallons of Avgas to be pumped into my aircraft. At XE:30; I departed on an IFR flight from ZZZ1 to ZZZ2. About 20-25 mins after take-off and cruising as instructed at 12;000; I started to hear a detonation like sound and the engine noise being slightly different sounding. The noise was getting louder/stronger as well as the vibrations. I contacted ZZZ Center to let them know that I might be having engine issues and would probably have to divert to close airport; they give me a vector and turned to fly to ZZZ3. Almost immediately I heard a loud bang and the aircraft was shaking; the engine stop producing power yet was still windmilling; after an attempt at troubleshooting it; and considering the terrains and gliding range limitations; it was obvious to me that I had to land as soon as possible. While still communicating with ATC they suggested ZZZ airport/strip; which my GTX750 glide range concurred. I head in the direction of ZZZ. In order to get the best glide possible; I tried to feather the engine and stop the windmilling; but the prop would not feather and the engine continue to windmill and shake.I managed to fly and land on Runway XX of ZZZ. After the aircraft stopped and as the runway was sloping up; I could only manage to push the aircraft to the side of the runway. I found some constructions cones nearby which I place in front of the aircraft nose. After landing I called the briefer to report that I was on the ground safely; and not emergency serviced was needed. In the morning; I reach out the ZZZ Airport Manager; and they were going to send a gentleman with a tug to move the aircraft off the runway and into a safe area.
