Cessna 152 pilot reported landing safely after experiencing engine problems. The engine reportedly quit in flight and was successfully restarted; cause unknown.

Narrative

Departed from ZZZ [airport] to ZZZ1 [airport] with flight following via a route at 6500 feet; over ZZZ [VOR] felt engine not running properly; I cancelled the flight following to ZZZ1 [airport] and requested new flight following back to ZZZ [airport] ; ATC asked to continue heading till she gives a new instruction; after the Class B clearance via coastal route back to ZZZ [airport] ; I turned around and descended to 5500; after about 30 secs; over a mountain my engine prop stopped working; I played with throttle and mixture to make it work but it stopped again. At that instance I tried to contact ATC giving them a call ; but unfortunately it was a 1 way comms failure too at that point; they were able to hear me i guess; but I was not; so I squawked 7600 and switched to emergency frequency 121.5 ; till then i was trying not to descend and was about to crank but just before that I found a perfect throttle-mixture position which started my propeller and kept my engine running; I gave my call to 121.5 ; first time heard the read back and than they gave me another frequency; by the time I was not having trust in the Aircraft engine; so I switched the squawk code and started the procedure to head back to nearest Airport which was ZZZ2; I headed towards ZZZ2 [airport] with providing the type of situation; I was experiencing to my ATC controller; I flew over airport a bit to get the feel of aircraft; after a while engine power felt alright; I requested as PIC of my Aircraft to head back to my home base ZZZ airport direct via all the airspace because I didn't wanted to decent to lower altitude near ZZZ3 [airport] or my original route; the ATC approved my route and I went flying one vector heading till ZZZ airport runway was visible I was constantly in 2 way communication with Approach; near the airport with permission Switched frequency to ZZZ tower and landed on rwy XXR safely.
