ACFT DAMAGED DURING RAMP OPS. DAMAGE NOT DISCOVERED BY SO ON PREFLT INSPECTION AT DEP STATION.
Narrative
I SERVED AS THE FLT ENGINEER ON FLT FROM SFO TO DFW. DEP TIME FROM SFO WAS AM19 LCL. PRIOR TO DEP; I PERFORMED AN ORIGINATION PREFLT IN ACCORDANCE WITH AIRLINE'S WDB OPERATING MANUAL. THIS PREFLT INCLUDED AN EXTERIOR SAFETY INSPECTION; COCKPIT INSPECTION OF ALL 3 CREW POS; CABIN AND LOWER GALLEY INSPECTION AND EXTERIOR WALKAROUND INSPECTION. I NOTED NO DISCREPANCIES. THE FLT WAS CONDUCTED WITHOUT INCIDENT. UPON ARR AT DFW; RAMP CREW DISCOVERED A 1 SQUARE INCH PUNCTURE HOLE IN THE R SIDE FUSELAGE; APPROX 1 FT AFT AND 2 FT BELOW A STATIC PORT. I DID NOT DISCOVER THIS HOLE DURING MY PREFLT AT SFO. DUE TO DARKNESS ON THE RAMP AT SFO; I DON'T KNOW IF THE HOLE WAS IN THE ACFT AT THAT TIME AND I DIDN'T SEE IT; OR IF THE DAMAGE WAS DONE AT DFW. THERE WERE NO INDICATIONS OF PRESSURIZATION PROBLEMS DURING THE FLT. I RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF THIS DAMAGE ON THE NEXT DAY AT APPROX PM00 CDT FROM THE SFO FLT OFFICE. I TALKED WITH THE SFO AIRLINES GENERAL MGR ABOUT THE DAMAGE AT PM00 CDT PLUS 1 HR THAT SAME DAY.
