INFLT ENG SHUTDOWN CREATES THE NEED FOR DIVERSION TO ALTERNATE ARPT FOR EMER LNDG. EMER DECLARED.
Narrative
WHILE ON A SCHEDULED FLT FROM LNK TO MSP THE R ENG FAILED WITH A LOUD BANG. THE ACFT; AN LTT WAS LEVELED OFF AND THE FAILED ENG WAS SECURED ACCORDING TO COMPANY PROCS. MSP CTR AT THIS POINT IN TIME CALLED TO CHANGE FREQS. AT THAT POINT; THE CAPT TOLD MSP CTR OF OUR SITUATION AND DECLARED AN EMER. WE WERE THEN TOLD TO CONTACT OMA APCH BECAUSE OF OUR LOCATION AND THAT WE WANTED TO LAND THERE. ONCE WITH OMA APCH; WE ADVISED OF OUR SITUATION; FUEL ON BOARD AND NUMBER OF PAX ON BOARD. WE ALSO REQUESTED CRASH FIRE RESCUE TO ASSIST US ON THE GND. THE APCH AND LNDG WAS NORMAL FOR AN ENG OUT APCH. WE LANDED IN OMA SAFELY WITH NO FURTHER INCIDENT OR ANY INJURIES AT ALL TO THE CREW OR PAX. ON THE GND; THE CRASH FIRE RESCUE INSPECTED THE ENG FOR FIRE. THERE WAS NONE AND WE WERE CLRED TO THE GATE. WE THEN UNLOADED THE PAX AT THE GATE. WE THEN TALKED TO OUR DISPATCH; FLT DEPT; AND THE OMA ATC PEOPLE. THE FAA THEN TALKED TO US AND RELEASED US AND THE ACFT. THE ACFT AND ALL ON BOARD SUFFERED NO INJURIES EXCEPT FOR THE FAILED ENG. ALL ENDED OK.
