Synopsis
A321neo flight crew reported getting distracted with a multitude of tasks during preflight and later realized during cruise that the Dangerous Goods (DG) Summary had not been accepted yet.
Narrative
My pairing changed and I was reassigned. The reassignment included a deadhead to ZZZ to meet my new FO. I had about 1 hour for the turn which was also in the new A321neo. I had not flown the NEO before. On the deadhead I read up on the NEO differences. I met the FO at the airplane and started familiarizing myself with the layout. The FO had already started the cockpit setup. I introduced myself to the FAs and briefed them on our flight. A new Maintenance Release was needed. Our release and fuel load was changed after arriving at the aircraft. Also we had to get takeoff data a few times with the load changes and runway changes. I familiarized myself with the new Digital Radio and Audio Integrating Management System (DRAIMs); weather radar; CPDLC and the differences with ACARS. We did a long brief using our briefing cards and discussed the threats of my first time flying the NEO. We completed the checklist and Ramp contacted us for pushback and then added some bags. After an uneventful pushback takeoff and climb we settled into cruise. While cleaning up the excess paper to declutter the cockpit; I noticed a Dangerous Goods (DG) Summary which I had not seen. I asked the FO if he had acknowledged the DG Summary. He said no. That is when I realized I had not sent the DG acceptance via ACARS.
Second reporter narrative
Missed the Dangerous Goods (DG) acceptance. I got to the airplane and started the preflight procedures. I initialized the box and did the walkaround. Met with the Captain and as we were finishing up the preflight we had to get a new release for fuel. In that process we needed to get a new Maintenance Release; new numbers; and reprogram the FMS. As we were about to push back we got a call from the ground crew that they needed to add a few bags which delayed the pushback process. When we got taxi instructions we were assigned a new runway. We got distracted with getting new numbers; reprogramming the FMS; and running the checklist again. In that process we forgot to accept the DG. We realized later in the air that we forgot to do it.
