Synopsis
Air carrier Storekeeper reported being pressured by Supervisor to go against company procedures and ship soon to be expired HAZMAT.
Narrative
On Day 0 ZZZ Supervisor requested for Storekeeper to push a HAZMAT shipment that was going to expire on Day 5; as it was an ageing queue. Per the training the Storekeeper got to not ship any HAZMAT out that are not AOGs that have less then XX days shelf life. The Storekeeper made the Supervisor aware of the situation and was told to try anyways. The Storekeeper did not abide by this request and informed departure staging personnel in regard on Day 1. Storekeeper was told by Departure Staging that they are indeed correct and this could have become an issue for sending expired HAZMAT.On Day 1 the same Supervisor requested for the same new hire Storekeeper to push an order of barrels of oil to ZZZ1 for another ageing queue. The Storekeeper expressed their comfortability in sending this specific item as they were not fully experienced in these shipments. The Supervisor then again stated well just try. The Storekeeper then attempted to ship these barrels of oil even upon their objection numerous times to the Supervisor. When coming onto shift on Day 2 one of our departure staging personnel walked past the shipment and went to review the package as it didn't look correct to the person. Upon reviewing the paperwork and packing the whole shipment was incorrect and when speaking to the Storekeeper it was said that they notified the Supervisor numerous times but was still told to try to ship them. The Storekeeper knew that the items may be returned but also knew that it was another directive from upper management and the pressure to ship weighed upon the person. The Storekeeper is aware if they are not fully comfortable and make this known they will not get penalized it will just be a teaching moment. They also understand the dangers of shipping HAZMAT incorrectly but again due to the pressure given by the Supervisor they felt as in a rock and a hard place.
