Air carrier Captain reported that while descending on approach they sighted UAS. The UAS posed no conflict and the crew continued the approach.

Narrative

We were on approach on the RNAV 13L into JFK. While we were in the turn I noticed two lights of phasing red and green off our right. I was PM and my FO was PF; since my FO was focused with the more critical task flying the aircraft did not have time to search for them. Based on the lights I presumed them to be drones; and their location would position them very well to film aerial footage of planes landing into JFK that night; or the filming skylights of NYC that night. They had some sort of lateral movement but not a significant amount; and difficult to judge since we were in a turn. Around 1000 feet they seemed to be below our altitude but at 500 feet seemed to be roughly at similar altitude; based on that I would estimate they were between 500-1000 ft. They were located about half a mile to a mile west northwest from runway 13R threshold. They were well out of our way and we had no risk of conflict with our approach so we elected to continue to approach and focus on our primary duties.
