Synopsis

EMB 175 pilot crew reported a loss of control; hard landing; tire failure and a partial runway excursion after encountering a micro-burst and wind-shear during touchdown.

Narrative

The Captain and I conducted flight from ZZZ1 to ZZZ airport. I was the PF on this leg and the Captain was the PM. We've received information from the ATC that there's weather at ZZZ with precipitation. I flew the ILS XXR approach followed the normal procedure. As we were on final and fully configured; we encountered gusty winds. The Captain asked if I needed assistance and I said yes. We had a positive flight control exchange and I was then assisting the Captain as PM. The Tower reported the wind direction of 240 with some gust factor. As we came closer to the runway; I saw the flight path was high; but the Captain quickly corrected it. As the Captain was rounding out; a sudden gust of wind pushed us offset the centerline. At that moment; I was looking at the further end of the runway to make sure we stayed within the runway. The aircraft touched down firmly and we were told to turn left on Taxiway 1; cross Runway XY and XXL to the terminal. We followed the instructions to the gate and the rampers were in the building due to lightning surrounding the airport. The Captain talked to the Flight Attendant (FA) and made sure everyone was not injured. We then waited about 15 to 20 mins to park at the gate. As I did the post flight check; I found the left outboard tire was low and the left inboard tire was flat. Additionally; there was some grass in the left wheel-well stowaway. I notified the Captain and he checked it and put the tire in the maintenance logbook. I performed a second walk around to double check and no other damage was found.Cause: weather with gusty winds and possible micro-burstSuggestions: go around and ask for a hold; divert to a suitable airport

Second reporter narrative

We were cleared by ZZZ Approach Control via radar vectors to the ILS Runway XXR. We could see the approach lights approximately 13 nautical miles out. As we approached closer clouds began to move in and obscured the approach lights. Winds were reported at approximately 240 degrees; 15 knots with gusts up to 27 knots. Additionally; rain was reported on the approach and at the airfield with the heaviest portion on the approach portion.FO was initially flying the approach and was following the approach lights to the runway on automation. As the conditions on the approach became gusty; I told FO I would take over the controls; at which point we transferred controls. I was able to see the approach lights and manually flew the approach with vertical and horizontal corrections. As I began my round out and flare; I experienced a sudden gust of wind from the right side combined with a downdraft; resulting in a very firm landing. The aircraft landed left of runway centerline (Runway XXR does not have centerline lights) and I began firmly correcting back to the centerline as the runway was wet. Since braking action was not reported we decided prior to commencing the approach to make a full flap landing vacating at 1 taxiway.I met FO during the walk around and noticed the left inboard tire was flat; and the left outboard tire appeared to be low. Cause: Gusty winds and possible micro-burst.Suggestions: Holding and or diversion to an alternate airport.
