Synopsis
G650 ER flight crew reported a complete steering failure after landing and a runway excursion.
Narrative
The crew departed empty for a reposition flight from ZZZ1 to ZZZ at XA:46 and after being cleared direct to ZZZZZ the crew had the Runway XX in ZZZ in sight. Around XA:53 the crew canceled IFR on XXX.X with ZZZ Center and squeaked VFR (1200). After landing the airplane initially moved to the left then right and the Flying Pilot realized that he had no steering authority. Decided to apply full braking action to bring the airplane to a full stop. The airplane came to a full stop with the right main wheel about 12-15 feet of the 100 feet use runway and the left main wheels are about 2-3 feet off the left side of the runway. The landing was normal (the maximum vertical acceleration recorded showing 1.2G; the airplane has no physical damage and no runway lights were stricken during the excursion. The crew immediately contacted ZZZ Center on XXX.X to advise an airplane was disabled on the runway as well as calling the ZZZ airport authorities in order to close the runway. The airport authorities arrived on sight within minutes and the airport is reporting closed on the pilot information system due to a disabled airplane on the runway. Gulfstream team has been called and should be on location within X hrs from now (around XJ:00 on Day 0 in ZZZ to tow the airplane away from the runway. Neither the airplane nor the runway have any physical damages.
Second reporter narrative
IFR flight from ZZZ1 to ZZZ. ZZZ Tower handed us off to ZZZ Departure. ZZZ cleared us for the ILS RNWY XX approach. Prior to reaching ZZZZZ intersection; we had the ZZZ airport in sight. We cancelled IFR; squawked 1200; and continued visually to ZZZ. No traffic was observed; we made three UNICOM position reports. Normal approach and landing. Upon rollout; experienced a Fly By Wire Steering Fail and the aircraft departed the right side of the runway. Crew was unhurt. The aircraft was undamaged. Due to recent tropical storm rains the nose gear became stuck. ZZZ TRACON was advised immediately. The airport manager was advised. Gulfstream assistance was summoned.
