Synopsis
PA-18 Pilot reported while landing in a crosswind losing control of the aircraft resulting in a runway excursion. The Pilot was able to taxi the aircraft to parking with no damage to the aircraft.
Narrative
During landing rollout; the PA-18 (tailwheel) I was flying departed the runway into the grass between Runway XX and the parallel taxiway. Winds were approximately 260 at 7 knots and the aircraft landed with a near direct crosswind. After executing a 3-point landing; the aircraft began veering to the right during roll-out due to the crosswind. I began applying left rudder and left brake to try and correct my ground track to the runway centerline. However; my inputs were not sufficient; and the aircraft departed the runway. Once my right tire was in the grass; I thought it was safer to continue straight ahead into the grass and down a shallow embankment rather than risk overcorrecting. Once the aircraft was under control I taxied back onto the active runway from the grass and returned to parking without further incident. I reported the incident to the 2 FBO service men to check the runway for FOD on the runway. There was no FOD observed on the runway and there was no observed damage to the aircraft during post flight inspection.
