Narrative
Operating a Piper PA-28-181 out of ZZZ Climbing out to 2;000 ft MSL off of Runway XX I announced that I was turning Crosswind at 1700 FT MSL announcing my intentions of UNICOM. As I started my turn Crosswind for Runway XX Approx. 500 ft Horizontal and 30 ft above a C152 erratically turned downwind. Leading me to immediately turn to the right as an evasive maneuver. I personally believe the decisions of the C152 were to be erratic. I personally believe the actions of my flight instructor on a Handheld Radio to be the deciding factor. My actions in the cockpit of the PA-28 were as follows; I did a normal field takeoff in accordance to the proper Takeoff Profiles; I rotated at 60 Knots and Climbed out at 76 Kts; once i got to 1700ft MSL I announced mt intentions on UNICOM of turning crosswind. I Had inadvertently set myself up for my part in the Near Mid-Air Collision however by starting my turn to crosswind at this point I had lined up my nose with the direct flight path of the C152 that had not yet announced his intentions on UNICOM. Once we met on the meeting point of our aircraft along with the guidance of my Flight Instructor i took the necessary and corrective action to get us off of the collision course.
