Narrative
HNL TWR CLRED OUR AIRPLANE FOR A LNDG ON 4L; HOLD SHORT OF 8L. THE STUDENT I WAS INSTRUCTING LANDED ON 4L HARD AND BOUNCED. AFTER HITTING THE SECOND TIME; HE STARTED A GAR. HE CALLED THE TWR SAYING HE WAS GOING AROUND. TWR SAID 'UNABLE GAR; HOLD SHORT OF 8L.' I INSTRUCTED TWR WE WERE GOING AROUND. VERY UPSET; THE TWR VECTORED US BACK FOR A LNDG REQUESTING TO KNOW THE REASON DURING A CRITICAL PHASE OF FLT. I REPLIED BOUNCED AND HARD LNDG. AS WE TAXIED BACK HNL GND TOLD US TO CALL THE TWR SUPVR. I DID; AND HE DID NOT AGREE WITH THE GAR. THE FAA FLT TRAINING HANDBOOK ALONG WITH ALL FALL PUBLICATIONS INDICATE IN DOUBT OR DURING BOUNCE; A GAR IS PROPER. THE TWR COULD HAVE CAUSED A DISASTER IF A STUDENT HAD TRIED TO FORCE THE AIRPLANE TO LAND AFTER A BOUNCE; FEELING THE TWR MUST BE OBEYED WHEN THEY SAID 'UNABLE GAR; HOLD SHORT 8L.' THE TWR COULD HAVE CAUSED A SECOND ACCIDENT WHEN ASKING FOR THE REASON FOR THE GAR; WHEN THE PLT HAS HIS HANDS FULL DOING A GAR LOW TO THE GND. AS A PROFESSIONAL PLT WITH THE AIR FORCE; IF I HAVE TO DO A GAR IN AN AIR FORCE JET; WHICH I HAVE; THE HNL TWR DOES NOT HASSLE THE PLT. BUT BECAUSE AN SMA IS A SMALL PLANE; THE TWR TREATS THE PLT AS A SECOND CLASS CITIZEN. THE TWR SHOULD TREAT ALL PLANES AND PLTS WITH EQUAL RESPECT AND WITHOUT HASSLE. THE TWR SHOULD NOT USE INTIMIDATION; OR AN ACCIDENT WILL RESULT WITH IT BEING THEIR FAULT.
