Synopsis

Ultralight pilot reported they caused a NMAC while turning final approach at a non-towered airport.

Narrative

During the final phase of landing; I inadvertently cut off another aircraft. I did not realize this until I was on my landing rollout and heard the radio traffic; which made me aware of what had occurred. The other plane took evasive maneuvers; and fortunately; a collision was avoided. The main issue was a loss of situational awareness. I entered a 45 for runway XX at ZZZ; following another plane on the downwind leg and announced my intentions via radio. Hearing another pilot announce he was following the light sport on downwind; I assumed he was behind me. Thus; I continued on the 45; entered downwind; and maintained visual contact with the original plane I was following; attempting to accommodate to the faster aircraft I believed was behind me. I called base and final without hearing anyone else do the same; and I shortened my base leg; thinking I was accommodating the faster aircraft. It was only after landing that I heard the radio call about the near miss I had inadvertently caused. I have no information on the other aircraft involved last word I hear was he was departing to the north shortly after the incident.
