Synopsis

A319 Captain reported converging traffic at intersecting taxiway resulted in taking evasive action and a critical ground conflict.

Narrative

During taxi out of ZZZ; our taxi instructions were from Taxiway 1; right turn on Taxiway 2; left turn on Taxiway 3; 3X for runway XXR. No hold short instructions; no 'give way to....). As we approached Taxiway 4 at approximately 15 knots; we were abeam a 777 on taxiway 1; the 777 made a right hand turn on Taxiway 4; towards us on Taxiway 3. Initially; the 777 didn't see us and I was forced to veer off the taxi line. In the moment; braking would've only stopped us in the 777's path. There were no aircraft at the gates to our right; so that seemed to be the safest option. We deviated from the taxi line approximately 30'-50' to avoid the collision. At this point I saw the 777 aggressively brake to avoid the collision as well. To my knowledge; the 777 was not given any hold short instructions or to 'follow aircraft on your right' instructions. Between the two of us; we successfully avoided a collision.Ground did not seem to be aware of the incident. The rest of the taxi was uneventful. This was the second of two similar events at ZZZ for us within a 12 hour period. A report was already submitted for the first event.
