ACR X CTLED FLT INTO HIGH RADIO TWRS DUE TO ATC COM PROBLEM ATC ASSIGNED WRONG FREQ.
Narrative
AFTER FIRST CONTACT WITH ZDC ON 135.5 WE WERE TOLD TO CONTACT ZDC ON 127.75 (WE THOUGHT THIS WAS ODD AS WE NORMALLY GET 135.3). ON INITIAL CONTACT; WE WERE ASKED HDG -- WE ADVISED 295 DEGS -- WE WERE TOLD TO DSND TO 2100 FT AND EXPECT VECTORS FOR THE ILS TO RWY 4 AT RWI -- WE ASKED CTR FOR ANOTHER FREQ BECAUSE THE RECEPTION WAS VERY BAD -- WE WERE GIVEN 118.75 -- A RESPONSE ON THIS FREQ WAS ALSO BROKEN AND WE ASKED FOR 135.3 -- NO RESPONSE -- WE TRIED TO CALL CTR ON 135.3 ON OUR #2 RADIO AND NO RESPONSE. AFTER WE HAD PASSED JAMBE OM; WE CALLED CTR TO ASK HOW LONG WE COULD EXPECT TO BE ON OUR HDG (AS THERE WERE TWRS IN THE AREA THAT WERE HIGHER THAN OUR ALT. WE HAD THE SQUELCH ON IN ORDER TO HEAR). WE WERE TOLD TO TURN R IMMEDIATELY TO 090 DEGS AS THERE WAS AN ANTENNA AT OUR 12 O'CLOCK 1/2 MI. ALSO; THAT SHE HAD BEEN TRYING TO CONTACT US FOR 5 MI. WE STARTED AN IMMEDIATE TURN AND AT THE SAME TIME INITIATED A CLB -- AS THE STROBES ON THE ANTENNA CAME INTO VIEW. WE WERE THEN TOLD TO TURN L IMMEDIATELY; AS THE ANTENNA WAS 1/4 MI. WE ADVISED WE WERE ALREADY IN THE TURN AND WOULD CONTINUE (A TURN TO THE L AT THAT TIME WOULD HAVE PUT US ON A COLLISION COURSE). WE ASKED AGAIN FOR 135.3 -- NO RESPONSE -- A JET RELAYED TO CTR AND WE WERE GIVEN '135.3.' AFTER TURNING TO 909 DEGS WE DSNDED TO 2100 FT. WE WERE GIVEN VECTORS AND SHOT THE APCH WITH NO FURTHER PROBLEMS. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 219246: THEN; AN ACR JET SAID CTR ACR X SAID HE NEEDS ANOTHER FREQ. SHE FINALLY GAVE US THE CORRECT FREQ. RADIO RECEPTION WAS 5 BY 5 ON THIS FREQ. SHE THEN GAVE US VECTOR. I ASKED HER TWICE FOR THEIR PHONE NUMBER; BUT NO RESPONSE. THEN SOMEONE CALLED ON RADIO SAID CTR WANTS YOUR PHONE NUMBER. THEN SHE FINALLY TOLD THEM THAT 127.75 AND 118.75 FREQ WAS NOT GOOD FOR THAT AREA. THEY TOLD ME WE HAD BEEN PUT ON THEM BY MISTAKE; THAT THEY WERE HIGH ALT FREQS.
