Synopsis

Dispatcher reported aircraft crew stated a fuel leak with engine shut down resulted in a divert.

Narrative

The Captain called a couple hours prior to the flight to request about 65-70 min of remaining time landing in ZZZ1 with Dispatcher planning 70 min as requested. When about 20-25 min enroute and just off the southern coast of Location X; Dispatch tool sent a message with an overburn of about 10 min worth. Since it is not uncommon to see an erroneous fuel report from time to time; I didn't think too much into it. However; another 10 min later I received another overburn where now it eventually showed landing in ZZZ1 with about 45 min of fuel. So somehow there potentially was a 25 min overburn according to those alerts. After a few minutes; the crew responded with: 'fuel leak ZZZ2 divert'. I quickly responded that ZZZ was closer and most logical divert location. A couple minutes later software indicated the diversion was occurring. I sent landing data; ZZZ weather; and any pertinent NOTAMs. Based on just all of this information up to that point; I didn't think a patch with Maintenance would be beneficial as main concern was to get on the ground asap as time to attempt to trouble shoot the situation would have just put the aircraft farther into the Location Y. Crew sent an ACARS that they did [request priority handling]. The Dispatch Maintenance Dispatcher called Dispatcher to inquire of issue and I informed that person. Dispatcher sent a message to operations and ATC coordinator; but no response before the aircraft touched down. Dispatcher called ZZZ ops; but no response and I left a voicemail. Dispatcher called ZZZ1 ops to notify them of the divert; but the number didn't connect. I was not surprised with the delayed response from the operations or ATC coordinator as this was all during shift turnover. When the plane was at about FL050 the crew sent an ACARS saying: 'eng shut down landing ZZZ '. Due to the time it would have taken to rerun any numbers with planned landing with only one engine; I did not attempt to do it as [priority handling] decision to land at ZZZ was already requested. Shift turnover continued as planned and I was relieved about 2 min before the flight actually landing at ZZZ. I called the dispatcher who relieved me a few hours later to hear what happened. Since I did not hear directly from the Captain (only through that dispatcher); I believe it is best to read the Captain's report for everything after I was relieved when the plane was moments from landing.
