Synopsis

PA-28 student pilot reported during landing they lost control of aircraft on touchdown due to wind gust. The student pilot over corrected with right rudder and applied incorrect brake pressure which caused them to veer left off the runway.

Narrative

SP (Student Pilot) arrived on time and prepared for the mission. Briefed external pressures and weather for todays solo. SP had a good start; taxi; pre-flight; and all ground operations were satisfied to SOP and ACS standards. SP departed off runway XXR and had a good right traffic pattern +/- 100 feet and +/- 10kts on airspeed. SP had stable approach criteria met with every landing and safely landed the aircraft to a full stop with good communication with tower/ground. SP had checklist usage to ACS and all components of flight were satisfactory. SP was then instructed to turn left crosswind and had 2 additional landings to ACS and taxi back on runaway XXL. Then after taxi back to parking IP (Instructor Pilot) exited aircraft and SP had a good start; taxi; and run up. SP then departed off runway XYL for left closed traffic and all approach criteria looked good. Then in flare left wing appeared to pitch up and then the aircraft touchdown and started a skid to the left off runway XYL and onto taxiway '1'. Aircraft was squawked and towed by maintenance team. Aircraft had no major damage; and pilot was okay. No other aircraft involved.

Second reporter narrative

Dual Solo. I departed off runway XYL after a complete and accurate run up. Standard traffic pattern and radio calls. Final approach was stable; round out was good. During ground effect; wind gust caused left wing to incline upwards and set right wheel on runway centerline. Air craft nose was approximately 25 degrees left of runway centerline; over correction of right rudder and applied incorrect break pressure resulting in a skid to the left. The aircraft veered left off the runway and broke one taxiway light before coming to a complete stop on taxiway 1. No immediate aircraft damage or other runway damage was observed; aircraft was shut down and towed back to maintenance.
