Synopsis

AN MLG ABORTED ITS TKOF DUE TO A DEER ON THE RWY. AS THE ANTI-SKID WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY; THE ACFT BLEW 4 TIRES.

Narrative

WE WERE CLRED FOR TKOF ON ORH ON RWY 29 AT APPROX AM50. THIS WAS THE FO'S LEG. SHORTLY AFTER THE TKOF ROLL WAS STARTED; AT ABOUT 80 KTS; THE TWR ADVISED US THAT THERE WERE DEER ON THE FIELD. I JUST NOTICED A DEER ON THE GRASSY AREA TO THE R OF THE RWY. IT STARTED TOWARDS THE RWY AND EVENTUALLY DID CROSS THE RWY. I INITIATED THE REJECTED TKOF AT ABOUT 95-100 KTS. DURING THE STOP; THE TIRES LOCKED UP AND WERE FLAT. WHEN WE CAME TO A STOP; THE FO AND I BOTH LOOKED OUT OF OUR WINDOWS AND NOTICED THAT THERE WAS SMOKE FROM THE MAIN LNDG GEAR AREA. ALTHOUGH THERE WERE NO FLAMES; I INSTRUCTED THE FO TO ASSIST THE FLT ATTENDANTS TO PERFORM PAX EVAC FROM THE GALLEY DOOR EXIT ONLY. THE EVAC WAS ORDERLY AND RAPID. THERE WERE NO INJURIES RPTED. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 221276: ABOUT 80 KTS THE CAPT AND I SPOTTED A LARGE DEER ON THE N SIDE OF OUR RWY IN THE GRASS. THE DEER STARTED TO CROSS THE RWY IN FRONT OF US; AND THE CAPT REJECTED THE TKOF. THE ANTI-SKID DID NOT SEEM TO FUNCTION PROPERLY DURING THE ENTIRE STOP WHICH RESULTED IN 4 MAIN TIRES GOING FLAT. THE TWR ADVISED US OF SMOKE COMING FROM OUR MAIN GEARS. THE CAPT COMMANDED AN EVAC OUT OF THE GALLEY EXIT. I ASSISTED THE PAX AT THE BASE OF THE SLIDE; AND GROUPED THEM TOGETHER FORWARD AND N OF THE ACFT. THERE WERE NO RPTED INJURIES OF PAX OR CREW AND NO DAMAGE TO THE ACFT OTHER THAN THE TIRES.
