Narrative
AFTER BUSINESS FLT TO N BEND; OR; COMPANY GENERAL MGR AND I PROCEEDED TO CONDUCT TRAINING DURING RETURN FLT TO CRESCENT CITY; CA. AFTER SEVERAL TOUCH AND GOES IN BEND; WE PROCEEDED TO BANDON; OR; FOR 'SHORT FIELD' LNDG PRACTICE. WE DEPARTED BANDON AND BEGAN A CLB DUE W TO GET TO AN ALT OF 15500 FT MSL FOR SOME ALT TRAINING. DURING THE CLB W; I MENTIONED A CAUTION OF THE ADIZ AT A DISTANCE I ESTIMATED TO BE 8-10 MI OFF SHORE. AT THIS TIME; WE TURNED TO THE SE AND CONTINUED OUR CLB TO 15500. THE FLT WAS UNEVENTFUL; WE MADE AN ILS APCH TO CRESCENT CITY AND TERMINATED. I WAS PREPARING FOR ANOTHER FLT WHEN OUR FSS PERSONNEL ADVISED ME TO CALL THE FAA LIAISON AT MCCHORD AFB; WA; WITH THE CALL; HE ADVISED ME THAT THE AIR FORCE HAD 'SCRAMBLED' 2 FGT'S ON US BECAUSE OF AN ADIZ UNAUTHORIZED PENETRATION. I EXPLAINED THE CIRCUMSTANCES; HE AGREED THAT IT WAS INADVERTENT AND SAID NO FURTHER ACTION WOULD RESULT. DURING THIS FLT; I FELT THAT WE HAD REMAINED WITHIN 10 NM OF THE SHORELINE. I HOWEVER; WAS USING ONLY VISUAL REFS. WE WOULD HAVE NORMALLY BEEN FLT FOLLOWING WITH SEATTLE CTR; BUT BECAUSE WE WERE DISCUSSING ACFT MANEUVERS AND PERFORMANCE; AS WELL AS THE FACT THAT THE WX WAS SO CLR; WE ELECTED TO LIMIT CONVERSATION TO WITHIN THE COCKPIT. IN THE FUTURE; IF WE NEED TO MANEUVER FOR ALT OR FOR ANY OTHER REASON; IT WILL BE TOWARD LAND OR WITH COORD AND ADVISORIES FROM ARTCC. IF WE VIOLATED THE ADIZ; IT WAS NOT INTENDED AND CERTAINLY WILL NOT BE REPEATED.
