Synopsis
Air carrier Flight Attendant reported the 2L door handle partially lifted shortly after takeoff. The flight returned to the departure airport where Maintenance assigned an aircraft swap.
Narrative
Prior to customer boarding; the working crew had Maintenance Control onboard to check out a door handle malfunction at 2L door as the previous crew reported that that door handle had partially lifted upon landing into ZZZ and the Flight Attendant had to physically hold down the door handle in order to keep the door closed. MX (Maintenance) stated that they fixed the door issue so we began boarding as normal. After takeoff; the working crew reported to the pilots that the same issue occurred at 2L where the 2L door handle had lifted partially shortly after takeoff and the FA (Flight Attendant) sitting next to 2L had to hold down the door handle in order to keep the door handle from lifting further and breaking the door seal. After circling the airport for a short while in a hold pattern; the Captain decided to divert back to ZZZ in order to have this aircraft looked at by MX. We then returned back to ZZZ shortly after that announcement. Out of an abundance of caution; he parked us on the taxiway shortly after landing as we were very overweight on arrival and MX was dispatched to check the aircraft brakes and ensure we are safe to taxi to gate. We were cleared by MX and taxied safely to the gate. They decided to action a plane swap as the repairs will take longer than normal.
