Synopsis
A Tower Controller conducting OJT reported they terminated their training session as they were unable to concentrate after finding out they had to respond to an email from OPM by the end of the day or they would be terminated.
Narrative
I was training an individual on LC (Local Control) /GC. I had to end training because I found concentrating difficult. The trainee also found concentrating difficult. We were told to respond to an opm email; detailing what we did last week. If we did not; by the end of the day; we would be fired. Working traffic as a trainer and trainee is already stressful. With this weighing heavy on our minds; we could not properly concentrate. We are always told that we need to advise FLM's (Front Line Manager) if something is bothering us. This is. This email request was absolutely unwarranted. This also caused a disruption to training. We are short staffed and this is not helping. We come in every day as professional controllers. We should be treated as such. Not forced to answer for the job we have done; with pride; and dignity. We should not be threatened with losing a job; if we do not answer an email. We have enough responsibility. We do our job well. To have to explain this on a weekly basis.in this on a weekly basis.
