Synopsis

Air carrier crew reported a traffic conflict with an aircraft on takeoff from a parallel runway. The air carrier crew received a TCAS RA to level off; then; eventually turned on course.

Narrative

As we were cleared to line up and wait on 8R an aircraft was cleared to depart 8L. Tower gave us a verbal notice that they would be heading East. We got clearance to takeoff and did so. The FO was flying and I was pilot monitoring. We followed all standard procedures and only saw the traffic who had departed 8R ahead of us. Once we had already selected NAV and VNAV modes as we passed our altitudes to do so; the FO continued flying the flight director until at about 1200ft we started receiving an RA to level off. I finally spotted the traffic off to our left and slightly higher than us. We followed the RA instructions until it stopped and then tower asked us to make our turn to the first fix. Right as they contacted us the RA stopped and our flight director then had us to turn to the first fix. I notified tower that we were turning to the fix and that we received an RA. Tower acknowledged it and then switched us to departure where they asked if we had gotten an RA after takeoff as well.
