Synopsis

General aviation pilot reported that security needs to be improved at PABV/BCV Airport; with multiple open gates providing unrestricted access to the field.

Narrative

While performing engine run-up vehicles are passing under wings. Much of this is due to the fact there is no security compliance at the airport. Birchwood does not have a single point of entry. At this time there are 6 open gates. 4 of them are on private leases. I have [asked] the airport personnel and agent to step in but to no avail. I have seen aircraft performing simultaneous landings on the paved and gravel strip. I have seen landings on the gravel and paved strip from opposite directions at the same time. Cars driving up and down taxiways while aircraft are in motion. Car crossing runways while aircraft are departing and landing. It is the Wild West of Airports. Most of the car interference can be stopped by closing the gates on the leased properties and establishing procedures to close all established access gates behind you after entrance. As for the failure to follow established air-traffic rules the airport personnel and FAA need to take a more proactive stance. It is only a matter of time before you have a midair or ground incursion resulting in injury or death. I have sent this same thing in months ago and still nothing has been done. All the established entry gates at Birchwood are marked in accordance with TSA signage. Please step in and close the gates and enforce aviation safety and security requirements. Birchwood is in close proximity to Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson; a point of entry for the President and other members of the country's leadership; and therefore should be viewed with security and safety as a main priority.
