Synopsis
B737 MAX flight crew reported malfunction with flight controls and flight deck displays on climb out. Returned to departure airport and landed uneventfully.
Narrative
During climb from ZZZZ; en route to ZZZZ1; CA's PFD (Primary Flight Display) began displaying SPD LIM flag and no vertical flight director guidance along with upper/lower speed limit bars moving up and down along speed tape intermittently. Vertical Flight Director guidance bars became intermittent during climb; alternating between SPD LIM present and vertical guidance. Referenced FM (Flight Manual) and found only reference to SPD LIM flag associated to the 737 MAX Equipment Cooling off and among the list of indicators for Airspeed Unreliable. All airspeed/altitude raw data matched across all indicators.Contacted dispatch and Maintenance Control for further guidance. As we were discussing no operator procedures that could clear the issue; the CA's control column stick shaker activated momentarily; while all raw data across all displays showed normal operations. We elected to return to ZZZZ; were cleared by Maintenance Control guidance for an overweight landing. During descent Auto Slat Fail light also illuminated. Returned to ZZZZ uneventfully.
