Synopsis
A321 Captain reported pulling the handle to open the aircraft door instead of disarming the door resulting in an inadvertent escape slide partial deployment on ramp after arrival.
Narrative
After landing in ZZZ; we were guided into a parking spot on the ramp. I completed the parking flow (with the exception of slide disarm …check; knowing I would need to disarm the slides myself). I called for Parking Checklist." While the FO was performing his check; I noticed the boarding stairs were all ready in place and ground crew were quickly coming up the stairs. I became concerned that they would open the door before I had time to disarm the slide. In my haste I inadvertently pulled the handle to open the door instead of disarming the door. As soon as I realized my error; I held the door partially closed and loudly instructed the ground crew to stay clear of the door and remove the boarding stairs. Because I was unsure if everyone was safely clear of the door; I held the door partially closed until I was sure of their safety. I was holding on to the safety handle to the right of the door to assure my safety. As a result of me keeping the door partially closed; the slide did not fully deploy outside."
