A WDB FREIGHTER HAD TO LAND SHORT OF DEST FOR FUEL AS THE PAYLOAD WAS COMPUTED WRONG.
Narrative
TRIP LHR TO JFK; WE RECEIVED A FLT RELEASE FROM FLT OPS AND ALL LOOKED NORMAL. THE ACFT WAS GOOD; THE WX WAS GOOD; THE LOAD WAS GOOD; AND FUEL WAS GOOD. WE ADDED AN EXTRA 5000 POUNDS THOUGH THE WX WAS GOOD. THERE WAS NOTHING UNUSUAL ABOUT THE RELEASE. THE CAPT SIGNED THE WT AND BAL AND WE BLOCKED OUT AT XA14Z. DURING THE CLBOUT AND INITIAL CRUISE; WE WERE BURNING SOME EXTRA FUEL BUT NOTHING ABNORMALLY EXCESSIVE. WE LATER STARTED TO BURN INTO OUR EXTRA FUEL AND BEGAN TO INVESTIGATE THE CAUSE. SHORTLY AFTER; WE RECEIVED A CALL FROM COMPANY SUGGESTING A STOP IN BGR FOR FUEL. WE DISCOVERED THAT WE HAD A RELEASE WITH 50000 POUNDS PAYLOAD WHEN WE ACTUALLY HAD APPROX 147000 POUNDS PAYLOAD. THIS WAS OBVIOUSLY THE CAUSE OF OUR EXTRA FUEL BURN. THE RAMP GAVE OPS THE WRONG PAYLOAD WHICH WAS PUT ON OUR RELEASE AND THEN THEY WERE OVERLOOKED BY THE CAPT. THE RELEASE HAD 50000 POUNDS PAYLOAD BUT THE WT AND BAL AND ALL OTHER PAPERWORK WAS CORRECT. THERE IS NO SECOND CHK BY THE FO OR SO IN NORMAL PROCS TO COMPARE THE RELEASED WT WITH THE ACTUAL WT AFTER LOADING AND THE COMPANY IS CHANGING THIS POLICY. A NORMAL LNDG WAS MADE IN BGR WITH ALL RESERVE AND ALTERNATE FUEL REQUIREMENTS MET AND THE FLT CONTINUED TO JFK WITHOUT INCIDENT. FATIGUE COULD HAVE BEEN A FACTOR.
