Synopsis
Single pilot reported a loss of directional control on landing due to a strong gust resulting in a runway excursion and onto the grass. No additional information provided.
Narrative
While attempting to land on Runway XX at ZZZ this evening; I encountered a strong gusting crosswind from the right. Gusts were too strong on final during my first attempt so I went around for a second attempt. I extended my downwind slightly on the second attempt and felt comfortable and safe to make a crosswind landing because the gusts seemed to be receding. Just as I touched down on the runway; I experienced a moderate gust followed by a second; stronger gust. I tried to center the plane with the rudder but by the time I got all three wheels down on the runway I was on the left side of centerline and oriented toward the grass on the left side of Runway XX. I didn't think it was safe to apply power and attempt to take off because I was oriented off the runway toward grass and hangars. I applied the brakes and briefly attempted to steer back toward centerline but I felt that my speed was so fast and the right crosswind so strong that the plane might tip over if I kept turning to the right. I therefore applied as much brake pressure as I could but was unable to stop the plane from rolling off the runway onto the grass.
