Narrative
Clear day with unlimited visibility and mostly light winds.Landing at the ZZZ airport on a personal flight to pick my son up from college. ZZZ operates a flight school as a part of the University. There is no control tower at ZZZ.Numerous aircraft in the pattern for runway XX. A mix of student solos; check rides and instruction. I entered 45 degree down wind; left pattern; runway XX making several calls on Unicom as to my position. The channel was VERY busy with approximately 4-5 other airplanes in the pattern. No issues until very short final when a Private Pilot applicant on his Private Pilot Check ride and his school designated FAA examiner pulled onto the runway in a Piper PA28 Archer w/ G1000 began a go-around and broadcast on UNICOM for the Archer to discontinue their takeoff. I feared they would rotate and climb into me during my go-around.When they continued the takeoff I sidestepped to the right to keep them in sight off my left and ended up in formation with them as they continued the climb. I fell in behind them in the pattern and returned to land on runway XX.After the event the FAA designee approached me and apologized for 'not seeing me on short final'. The Ovation is equipped with two taxi lights; two landing lights; recognition lights; strobe and navigation lights which are all LED and very bright. I made two calls on final. One on short final. The Archers used by the school have G1000; and ADS-B traffic displays. No call was made while taking the runway.ZZZ has; for awhile; been a dangerous airport to approach and land and is becoming more so. Also in the pattern that day were two airplanes with no radios and no ADS-B giving rides to Cub Scouts and Young Eagles.Happy to talk on the phone. And; thank you for your time.
