Pilot reported the right main tire failed while expediting to clear the runway.
Synopsis
Pilot reported the right main tire failed while expediting to clear the runway.
Narrative
Upon returning from a cross country flight; I contacted ZZZ tower for permission to land. I was informed I was going to be spaced between jets and initially was told to remain outside of the delta. After about five minutes I was cleared into the delta and told to report a 3 mile left base for XX. Approximately on a 5 mile left base I was told to do a left 360 for spacing at which point I entered a standard rate left 360. About 270 degrees into the turn I was told to proceed direct to the numbers and to expedite and keep speed up as much as possible as I was being spaced between landing jet traffic and jet traffic on a long final. To keep speed up I indicated 95 knots and proceeded directly to the numbers. I was then instructed again to parallel the highway and to keep my speed up as much as possible as the jet was announcing his approach. When I was approximately 1.5-2 miles away from the numbers on a highly modified base I was told once again to maintain my speed and expedite as long as possible and the jet traffic behind me was instructed to fly as slowly as possible. I then reapplied power and reestablished 95 knots until short final of about .5 miles before I began to slow. Because of my higher than usual approach speed per the circumstances I opted for flaps 10 instead of full and continued my descent. Landing was normal but because of flaps 10 and an increased short final approach speed I touched down just before the XY-XZ runway intersection. In an effort to clear the runway as fast as possible I used maximum braking power but over applied the right brake causing it to lock up and flat spot a hole through the tire as I was turning off onto taxiway delta. In the future will not attempt to force a taxiway instead continue on to the next available option.
