Synopsis

Pilot trainee with Flight Instructor reported loss of aircraft control on landing resulted in shutting down aircraft on the runway.

Narrative

During a local training flight aimed at preparing myself for a upcoming checkride; we performed a series of takeoffs and landings. The exercises included normal landings and short approach procedures. All operations up to the final approach were conducted smoothly; with all landings being soft and within commercial standards. Throughout the flight; we experienced minor nose gear vibrations; which are characteristic of the Tecnam P2010 TDI and were not initially deemed abnormal. On the final approach; we executed a soft field landing:* Aircraft configured with takeoff flaps on base leg at 85 knots.* Final approach was flown at 75 knots with landing flaps deployed.* Flare and main gear touchdown were smooth and consistent with soft field technique.* The nose gear was held off the ground momentarily as per soft field procedure; then gently lowered.Upon the nose wheel contacting the runway surface; the aircraft slightly veered to the right off the center line and came to a complete stop on the runway. No directional control inputs were made that would have caused this behavior. We promptly notified the control tower and shut down the aircraft on the runway. No injuries occurred; and no immediate damage was visible from the cockpit.
