Synopsis

Air Taxi flight crew reported ATC instructed them to Line Up and Wait and after they entered the runway ATC issued go-around instructions to an aircraft on short final.

Narrative

I was operating as SIC on aircraft X. PIC and I were taxiing out in MDW on taxiway Whiskey; assigned to runway 4L at Whiskey. We came to a stop short of the runway and engaged the parking brake. I checked in with tower that we were ready to go; and tower instructed us to hold short of 4L for landing traffic. I read back the hold short clearance as normal. PIC then instructed me to check on our passengers while waiting to make sure they were alright due to a bunch of distracting noise coming from the cabin. I removed my headset and turned around to make sure everyone was ready. I turned back around and as I put my headset back on; the parking brake was disengaged and we began to move. I asked PIC if we had gotten a clearance to line up to which he responded; 'yes.'I checked the final; did not see any traffic; and we performed the Before Takeoff Checklist when PIC called for it. I then heard aircraft Y on runway 4R receive its takeoff clearance. After a few seconds of waiting on the runway; we were instructed by tower to exit the runway immediately; followed by a go around issuance to aircraft Z on final for 4L. We were then instructed to hold position on the runway; followed by a taxi instruction to exit the runway. We exited at taxiway J and received the phone number to call. After a few moments; we taxied back to 4L and completed the flight to ZZZ with no issues.

Second reporter narrative

I was PIC. At the time of the incident we were given a hold short 4L on Taxiway Whiskey which was read back by my copilot. We came to a stop and I set the parking brake. After that he took his headset off to ask the passengers if they were okay; due to a lot of sound coming from the back. Sounded like a phone ringing. During that time I heard a call for aircraft X to line up and wait 4L. I slowly took the parking brake off and waited for my copilot to get situated. Once he was in position I started rolling. He asked if we were given a line up and wait clearance and I said yes we were. I then called for the before take off checklist.We sat on the runway for a minute when aircraft Y was giving a takeoff clearance on the parallel runway. We were then told to immediately exit the runway followed by an immediate hold short and an aircraft told to go around. After waiting another minute we were instructed to taxi and make a left turn on Taxiway Juliet and hold short of Taxiway Whiskey. Then we were advised of a possible deviation and given a phone number. After that was copied we were instructed to taxi up to and hold short of 4L. We were then given departure clearance and continued on our flight.
