FLT MIA GRU (ACR WDB FLT NUMBER TUE) 10/92 ALL ASPECTS NORMAL/OR ROUTINE UNTIL NOSE GEAR TOUCHDOWN. FO LNDG. HE PUSHED NOSE OVER AFTER MAIN GEAR SKIP TOUCHDOWN. FUSELAGE DAMAGED ACROSS THE TOP. OFF STATION. OCT MIA GRU NTSB HAS COCKPIT RECORDER AND FDR. L 10 KT XWIND DURING LNDG. FDR SAYS HIGHEST 'G' SPIKE 1.376'S SHOULD AIRFRAME FAIL? CAPT ME; HELPLESS AT THAT POINT OF LNDG. FO'S LNDG AT THAT POINT NOTHING I COULD DO TO STOP FIRM NOSE GND TOUCHDOWN. FO HAD 390 HRS THAT'S ABOUT 20 LNDGS DO LONG RANGE SEGMENTS. THIS DISPROVES OLD ADAGE A GOOD APCH MAKES A GOOD LNDG. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 224757. AFTER MAIN GEAR TOUCHDOWN; LOWERED NOSE OF ACFT. FELT NOSE GEAR CONTACT WITH RWY AND APPLIED FORWARD PRESSURE TO YOKE BECAUSE OF XWIND CONDITION ON LNDG. NOSE ABRUPTLY FELL AND HEARD LOUD BANG. DROPPED 2 SETS OF OXYGEN MASKS AND 1 VIDEO CAMERA FROM CEILING. AFT ENTRY DOOR EICAS MESSAGE WAS ALSO DISPLAYED ON EICAS SCREEN. TAXI IN NORMAL. ON LONG TAXI NOTICED WIND SHIFTING FROM DIRECT XWIND FROM L TO DIRECT TAILWIND.
